The Józef Piłsudski Museum in Sulejówek collects, records, and develops museum and non-heritage items of an exhibition nature and deposits. The Museum’s collections cover the period from the January Uprising to the death of Józef Piłsudski, along with testimonies of the memory of the Marshal, up to the present day.

The Collections Department preserves and protects works of art, historical artifacts, militaria, archives, newspapers, books, photographs, maps, numismatic items, orders and decorations, philately – memorabilia related to Marshal Józef Piłsudski and the era in which he lived and worked.
As at the end of 2020, the museum’s collections totaled 24,029 objects recorded on 14,258 inventory items.

The Collections Department is run by the Secretariat of the Acquisitions Committee, which considers offers for purchases, donations and deposits transferred to the Museum. We attach particular importance to objects related to Józef Piłsudski, documenting the fate of Poles and Polish lands under the partitions at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the nation’s struggle for independence and the armed activity of the Polish Legions and other Polish military formations during the First World War. We collect artifacts and testimonies documenting various aspects of the Polish Second Commonwealth, including everyday life and social attitudes.

The numerous gifts donated to the Museum are a valuable expression of your trust and support for our activities. We sincerely thank you for them.

Those wishing to donate memorabilia to the Museum are asked to contact the Collections Department.
